Carnival rides and much more will be offered at the 2022 Nautical City Festival in Rogers City.
ROGERS CITY – Bring on the summer fun!
The 2022 Nautical City Festival starts Tuesday and runs through Sunday in Rogers City.
Festivities include a grand parade, carnival, classic car show, a juried arts and crafts show, Big Tent activities, live bands, food vendors, entertainment, clowns, sports activities, and more, including fireworks on Sunday.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, a sailors memorial will be held at 6 p.m., hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Rogers City, at Lakeside Park Bandshell, followed by a Rogers City City Band concert at the bandshell.
Then from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., a trivia contest will be held at the Big Tent. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m., for $10. Cash prizes will be awarded.
At 7:30 p.m., Michelle and Eric Cornish will share their experience hiking the entire Appalachian Trail. This event is sponsored by the Presque Isle District Library and will be held at Rogers City Theater.
Wednesday
On Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to noon, sidewalk art will be hosted by the queen and her court at Courthouse Square. Chalk will be provided.
A Texas Hold ‘Em tournament will be held in the Big Tent, with registration from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the tournament at 6:30 p.m., with a $40 buy-in. Food will be available.
Then at 6 p.m. is the kiddie parade, themed “Gardening is Fun!” The kiddie parade is sponsored by Rogers City Area Civic League. Lineup is at Westminster Church. Sign up starts at 5 p.m.
From 6 to 10 p.m., the carnival is presented by Family Fun Tyme Amusement, and on Wednesday only, get a special unlimited ride armband for $15.
At 8 p.m., experience a historical cemetery tour showing at Rogers City Theater, for $10 per ticket. Children 5 and younger get in free. Learn about some of the fascinating people who were laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery, and their role in local history. Tickets are available at the Presque Isle County Historical Museum gift shop at 175-185 W. Michigan Ave. in Rogers City.
Thursday
On Thursday, from 1 to 4 p.m., walk-in bingo will be held in the Lakeside Tent, hosted by Daughters of Isabella.
From 4 to 10 p.m., Family Fun Tyme Amusement presents the carnival, with single tickets for $1.50 apiece, and unlimited armbands for $25 each.
A drive-thru spaghetti dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Rogers City Area Senior and Community Center, 131 E. Superior St. The cost is $13 per dinner.
Then from 7 to 10 p.m., The Borderline 3 Band takes the stage in the Big Tent, sponsored by Calcite Credit Union. Admission is $3.
Friday
On Friday, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., narrated bus tours of Carmeuse Limestone Quarry will be offered, with advance in-person ticket purchases recommended. Reservations will not be taken by phone. Adult tickets are $10, and children under 14 are $5. Tickets are available at the Presque Isle County Historical Museum gift shop at 175-185 W. Michigan Ave. in Rogers City. Tours leave from the museum gift shop.
A giant equipment display will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by Carmeuse Lime & Stone, at the main gate on Calcite Road.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., children can print their own T-shirt at Dockside Printing, starting at $10, for ages 4 and up.
Also starting at 10 a.m. is a juried arts and crafts show at Courthouse Square, until 6 p.m. The food court will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rosco the Clown will be entertaining from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the craft show.
In the Big Tent, Nowicki’s Sausage Shoppe and King Edwards Subs will be serving from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Family Fun Tyme Amusement carnival will be from noon to 10 p.m. Armbands are $25.
Also starting at noon is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, hosted by Huron Sports Boosters, for $40 per middle school team, and $50 per high school or adult team. Please pre-register by calling Amanda at 989-733-0064. The tournament will be at the marina parking lot. Brackets will be separated into middle school, high school, and adults. A rules meeting will be at 11:30 a.m., and play starts at noon.
Walk-in bingo will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lakeside Tent, hosted by Daughters of Isabella.
At 1 p.m., a fossil dig will be held behind the little league field, hosted by Carmeuse Lime & Stone.
Then from 4 to 7 p.m. is a Polish festival dinner at St. Ignatius School gym, at 545 S. Third St. The cost is $15, dine-in or takeout.

Saturday
The 40th Nautical City Run/Walk for Health registration is from 7 to 8:15 a.m. at Lakeside Pavilion. Or, you can register in advance from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at 206 N. First St. The 1-mile run/walk starts at 8:30 a.m., and the 6K open run/walk will begin at approximately 9 a.m.
At 8 a.m., the Nautical City Festival Men’s and Women’s Slow Pitch Softball Tournament starts at various fields, organized by the PIC Softball League. For information on the men’s tournament, call Eric at 989-306-2336, or for the women’s tournament, call Karl at 989-306-2932.
The Knights of Columbus Scholarship Breakfast, featuring potato pancakes and all the fixin’s, will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. Ignatius School gym. The cost is $10 per adult, $5 per child ages 6 to 12, and free for ages 5 and younger.
At 9 a.m. is a Spitzer tournament, hosted by The Servicemen’s Club. Contact Sandy at 989-766-8102 to register.
Kiddie games will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the bandshell area, hosted by the Zonta Club and MSU Extension 4-H. Games are for ages 3 to 10, followed by a kiddie tractor pull for ages 4 to 7. Pre-register with a parent.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is the Nautical City Festival Antique and Classic Car Show at Westminster Park, sponsored by Bishop Chevrolet. Pre-registration is $15. Show-day registration is $20, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
A giant equipment display will be from 10 a.m. to noon, sponsored by Carmeuse Lime & Stone, at the main gate on Calcite Road. Climb aboard and sit in the driver’s seat.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., children can print their own T-shirt at Dockside Printing, starting at $10, for ages 4 and up.

A strawberry shortcake and ice cream social will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church grounds, across from the car show.
The carnival opens from noon to 10 p.m., with armbands for $25.
A pet show will be at noon at the bandshell, hosted by Huron Veterinary Clinic. Categories include Best Nautical Attire, Most Exotic/Unique, Oldest, Ugliest, Smallest, Most Fabulous, Best Trick(s), Crowd Favorite, and Judges Choice.
Also at noon is a horseshoe tournament, hosted by the Knights of Columbus, alongside the Big Tent. Register at the time of the event.
From noon to 3 p.m. is archery, shotgun, and .22 rifle shooting, at Presque Isle County Sportsmen’s Club, a mile and a half west of Adrian’s Sport Shop. This event is for ages 7 to 13, instructed and supervised by Certified Range Office. All equipment will be provided, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
At 1 p.m. is the Rogers City 1971 Centennial Picture Show at Rogers City Theater, presented by the PI County Historical Museum and hosted by Mark Munn. Donations will be accepted.
At 2 p.m. is Nowicki’s Brat Eating Contest, for $10 per person, for the first 12 people who sign up between 11 and 11:30 a.m.
Rosco the Clown will entertain children at 2 p.m. at Courthouse Square.
At 7:30 p.m., learn about the Shipwrecks of Lake Huron, presented by Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, at Rogers City Theater. Donations will be accepted.
Then at 8 p.m. in the Big Tent, Tommy K and The Rock Show will play. Admission is $10.
Sunday
On Sunday, at 8 a.m., the Nautical City Festival Men’s and Women’s Softball Finals will be held at various fields, with championship games at “The Hole.”
A festival breakfast will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. Ignatius School gym, sponsored by Daughters of Isabella. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12, and free for 5 and younger.
Presque Isle County Sportsmen’s Club will host a barbecue chicken dinner from 10:30 a.m. until sold out, at Lakeside Park. Drive-up dinners will be available.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a juried arts and crafts show will be held at Courthouse Square, with the food court open.
Nowicki’s Sausage Shoppe and King Edwards Subs will be available from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Big Tent.
A strawberry shortcake and ice cream social will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church grounds.
The Family Fun Tyme Amusement carnival will be open from noon to 10 p.m., with Sunday armbands for $30. Single tickets are $1.50 each.
Grand Marshals Beach and Kellie Hall will reign over the grand parade, which starts at 12:30 p.m. The parade theme is “I LOVE AMERICA,” and it is sponsored by Presque Isle Electric and Gas. The route is from Gilpin Field north on Third Street.
At 1 p.m., the tent opens, and entertainment will be held after the parade, with $3 admission for adults, and children under 12 free.
At 2 p.m., a cornhole tournament will be held at the Big Tent, sponsored by Bishop Chevrolet.
Kielbasa Kings Polka Band will play from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Big Tent, sponsored by WATZ Radio.
Last call in the tent is 9 p.m., and the tent closes at 10 p.m.
Fireworks will be held at dusk. If they are rained out, they will be held on Sunday, Aug. 14.
