AMC’s Mad Men Renewed for Fourth Season

The third season premiere of AMC’s Mad Men was a hit with viewers, drawing in an audience that was 4.5 million strong. According to Variety, the rating were so good, AMC has decided to renew the flagship series for a Mad Men fourth season, which will debut in 2010.
AMC’s Charlie Collier stated, “We always saw the potential for Mad Men. It’s been extremely gratifying to see the show develop in to such a pop-cultural phenomenon with such a passionate fan base.” Mad Men is currently up for 16 Emmy nominations this year. The series won Best Drama during its first season. Here is the official press release for the fourth season renewal:
AMC announced today it has renewed Mad Men for a fourth season. The news comes on the heels of the premiere of the series’ third season, which debuted Sunday, August 16 to unprecedented critical acclaim and attention, and garnered a record 4.5 million viewers. The series has also recently received 16 Emmy nominations – the most for any drama series – including Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama (Jon Hamm), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama (John Slattery), and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama (Elisabeth Moss). Creator, writer and executive producer Matthew Weiner has received four out of the five nominations in the Outstanding Writing for a Drama series category. Lionsgate, the leading next generation studio, produces the series in association with AMC.

AMC will premiere the third season of its critically-acclaimed, award-winning drama “Mad Men” on Sunday, August 16th at 10PM ET/9PM C. The premiere airing will be presented with limited commercial interruptions.
Leading up to the highly-anticipated new season will be a Mad Men marathon on Sunday, August 10, from 7AM – 8PM EST, featuring all 13 episodes from the series’ award-winning second season.
Beginning today, Season One is available On Demand, in both standard- and high-definition. Season Two will be available On Demand starting Monday, July 20. The pilot episode entitled “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” is available now for live streaming on amctv.com.
Mad Men debuted in July 2007 and has gone on to win multiple Emmy® Awards, including the Emmy for Outstanding Drama, a first for a basic cable series. It is also the only basic cable series to win the Golden Globe award two years in a row (2007 and 2008) for Best Television Series-Drama and was the recipient of a Peabody award in 2008. It has gained unprecedented recognition and has been hailed as, “One of the most critically acclaimed TV shows ever,” by the New York Post.
