The magazine’s editor Kate Coyne, Depp, has become a symbol of attractiveness and the expression of his 46 years in many generations, like the actor who said it was decided to choose the sexiest men. Depp, the sexiest men in 2003 by the magazine had been selected.

Johnny Depp is returning as Captain Jack Sparrow in a untitled third sequel in the popular Pirates franchise.

No word if any other cast or if director Gore Verbinski are returning – it seems unlikely Depp would return without Verbinski and Geoffrey Rush would seem to be an no-brainer. “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” teased audiences with Sparrow & Barbossa both in hot pursuit of the Fountain of Youth!

“Johnny Depp” is never one to shy away from the dressing up box, but while there was still been something a little sexy about his portrayal of a pirate and scissorhanded goth, his latest alter ego, the Mad Hatter, is just downright freaky (Ronald Donald meets Susan Boyle anyone?), which is why it was such a relief to see him back on usual form at the Public Enemies premiere in Chicago last night.

Released in the UK next week, the film sees Depp playing 1930s gangster John Dillinger and also stars Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard – although this will all be incidental for true fans of the stars…

The gossip mag’s editor Julian Linley said the actor “is obviously very easy on the eye, but a lot of his popularity has to be down to the character Edward he plays in Twilight – strong, brooding and tortured, basically most women’s fantasy boyfriend”.

We won’t argue with that. What we do have issue with, though, is who the hell new co-star is… The actor was spotted fiming scenes for his upcoming flick Remember me with a chick who looked like she was enjoying a day off from Hooters.

First Look at Alice in Wonderland Pictures

USA Today has revealed some new images from the strange world of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which is actually like a sequel to the original story. Get your first look at “Johnny Depp” as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, and three concept art images.

The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.
